Fraser Hutchinson a versatile and accomplished composer, arranger, trumpet/flugelhorn, and keyboard player based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Fraser's dynamic career has seen him play horns and keyboards for numerous big bands, R&B bands, and top 40 bands across Seattle, Northern California, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). He has also performed in in numerous musical theater productions.
He holds music degrees from Vanier College and Concordia University in Montreal, where he studied trumpet, piano, composition, and arrangement. His musical education includes studying trumpet with Real Mathieu and Greg Lyons, piano with Art Roberts, Peggy Wada, and Ronald Headland, arranging with Al Baculis Sr., Jan Jarcyk, and Don Habib, and orchestration with Wolfgang Bottenberg.
Throughout his career, Fraser has held notable positions as the lead/jazz trumpet for ensembles such as City Swing, JH Big Band, Chops Big Band, and CT Cruisers in the Seattle and California areas. In the GTA, he has performed as a lead/jazz trumpeter with the Mega City Big Band, Mississauga Big Band, and the West End Jazz Orchestra, among others. Additionally, Fraser has played keys with various groups in Seattle, Austin, Texas, and Northern California.
As an active composer and arranger, Fraser offers professional services that include custom compositions for film, television, theater, and multimedia, arrangements for various ensembles, sheet music preparation and transcription, music editing and consultation, and personalized arrangements for special events.
